Learning about God for all Eternity

Bible-books-study.jpg

All we can truly understand about God is what He has revealed to us in the Bible. And while this does give us a great deal of accurate information, it obviously does not give us exhaustive information that plumbs the depths of His infinity. Indeed, one of the glories of eternal salvation (John 5:24; 6:47) will be that finite creatures will forever learn wondrous things about the inexhaustible glories and perfections of an infinite God. This heavenly knowledge will make the things learned on earth pale in contrast!

Romans: Five Verses on Adoption

Five Verses on Adoption

from Challies Dot Com by Tim

The word “adoption” (Greek huiothesias) occurs only a few times in the New Testament, and each time it refers to God choosing a people for himself. Though there are not a lot of references to this word, there is a good deal we learn from them about the doctrine of adoption.

1) God adopts those whom he loves and has predestined to be his children

In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace” (Ephesians 1:4-6)

2) It is through Jesus Christ that God’s children are adopted

“In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace” (Ephesians 1:4-6)

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” (Galatians 4:4-5)

3) God adopts his children so that he might display the glory of his grace

“In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace” (Ephesians 1:4-6)

4) God has secured this adoption by his Spirit

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” (Romans 8:15)

5) God will complete this adoption when he renews our bodies, thus making us eager for Christ’s return

“And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” (Romans 8:23)

Alan Harris Family June 24, 2012

Sunday June 24, 2012: Rivers of Joy Baptist Church, Minford, Ohio

Our special guest Evangelist Alan Harris and his lovely wife Angie, and their youngest son Andrew Harris ministered to us in the Adult Bible Class and the morning worship hour.

We had a great day with the Harris’s. Alan came to the First Baptist Church, in Altoona, KS where  Pastor-Teacher Charles ministered.  Alan and Angie came to FBC and held many evangelist meetings, from 1983 thru 1995.

Alan and Angie have returned back to Rivers of Joy Baptist for the second time since Pastor Charles has been here. And Alan was here when Q.  King was pastor.

Alan and Angie have been in full time evangelism all their marriage live. Alan began before he was married and now has been in evangelism for 30 years. Amazing. They are from Connersville, IN, at the Calvary Baptist Church.

They have three great boys who have been part of their ministry and singing since they were born.  Alex now is in Lynchburg, Va. in college and working in a church and Anthony is in Texas working in a church, and    Andrew is singing with the Harris.

I would highly recommend Alan Harris.
