What is the role of the Pastor/Teacher in the local Church in 2014?
What is the role of the Members of the Church in 2014?
First we need to know what is the role of the Elder / Pastor-Teacher / Bishop [Overseer] in the over all ministry of the local Church? Is he the Church CEO? Does he run the Church? We must understand God’s design of the Church in order to understand the role of the Pastor-Teacher.
In 1983/1992 I attended the Shepherd’s Conference in Sun Valley CA. Those years there were only 300 preachers who attended, today there are 3000 men who attend.
When I went for the first time the statement that I remember most was this:
“If you are hear to learn how to build a church by number and programs you have come to the wrong conference.”
I came back to the church in FBC in Altoona, Kansas and had a 100% change of plans on how to be the pastor of the church and how to build a church. Now move forward to 2008-2014 now pastor of Rivers of Joy Baptist Church in Minford, Ohio I still have the same basic idea of how to build the church that God has established.
What I have learned over the years? The best laid plans and strategic planning are all in the hands of providence of God. I personally believe that I have to the best of my ability tried to do the work of the ministry in the manner that I have found to be Biblical. And the results have been what they have been. They have certainly not been what I had thought they would have been, but that does not mean they have been wrong.
SO WHAT HAVE BEEN THE FOUNDATIONAL BLOCKS THAT HAVE BEEN LAID TO BUILD THE CHURCH ON?
I Google “Five Non-negotiable requirement for the local church when I first came to ROJBC and found them under http://www.slideshare.net/cewhisnant/five-non-negotiables.
