THE SOVEREIGNTY RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD PART ONE

THE SOVEREIGNTY RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD PART ONE

Romans 9, and selected verses

Charles e Whisnant, pastor/Teacher, Theologian May 05, 2013

A challenging, stimulating, portion of scriptures this Romans 9. As Peter said of Paul’s writing, “He is very hard to understanding.” And Peter was an disciple and learned under Jesus for three years. But just because the scriptures may be hard does not lessen its importance Many struggle with the idea that God is absolute sovereign that is God is free to do what every He wants to do. God is free to determine all things according to His own will and good pleasure. Get this: God is God. He Is King. Absolute King. The Ultimate authority. Doing His will in Heaven, Earth and any where else He so desires.

LET’S READ A SELECTION OF SCRITPURES THAT WIL HELP US KNOW THIS GOD:

  1. Psalms 115:3

  2. Daniel 4:35

That is to say God is in charge.. He is in control. No one can question Him.

  3. I Timothy 6:15 The blessed controller, only one who holds any sway.

THREE THINGS THAT GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER IN THIS LESSON TONIGHT:

1A GOD IS SOVEREIGN IN CREATION

We spend almost a year in the first three chapters of Genesis didn’t we. Those who want to question God just need to ask the question “Who was in charge them?” Before man was around who was in charge? Right? God. Revelation 4:11; Proverbs 16:4.

  • Cf. Job 21:30, Isaiah 45:7; Romans 11:36; Job 2:30

  • Out of His own free choice He created, angels, the universe, the stars, the plants, the sky, the moons, the planets. (Stars: within 100 million light years? 200 trillion.) God created the mountains, seas, lakes, and even insects.

  •
  • The Universe somewhere within 14 billion light years. How big is our universe? http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/virgo.html

  • Our galaxy is just one of 1000”s that lie within 100 million light years.

  • Why did the Lord create all these things? Answer: because He wanted to. He had no input on what He chose to do.

    • II Samuel 10:12…. cf. I Samuel 3:8; 15:26; Psalms 20:7, 37:3,5,40, Psalms 44:5-6 118:8; Proverbs 29:25. for starters.

    • Think as I have often: What was before there was anything that we see now?

2A GOD IS SOVEREIGN ALSO IN ADMINSTRATION OF THAT CREATION

  1. Job 23:13-14; Psalms 33:9-11; Proverbs 19:21; Isaiah 46:10; Psalms 47:2; 103:19; Isaiah 14:27, 2 Chronicles 20:6

  2. Isaiah 46:9-10; Psalms 33:11, Proverbs 19:21; Acts 5:39; Hebrews 6:17; I Samuel 2:6-9; Acts 17:28; II Chronicles 20:6, Psalms 62:11; Matthew 6:13

This lesson took me 40 minutes to deliver and read many of these verses. The sermon is on YouTube.com/whisnant88
