PERSONALLY AS THE PASTOR-ELDER I WANT OUR CHURCH TO BE KNOWN AS A PLACE WHERE THE WORD OF GOD IS TAUGHT, FROM SCRIPTURE TO VERSES
Our objective and hopeful result we work toward in the work of the ministry here at Rivers of Joy Baptist Church, is to see Christians become good disciples for the Lord. We desire to see spiritual growth and godly holiness in the lives of each member of our church.
The Elders desire is to see our fellowship grow in the grace of Christ. How do we accomplish this task in bringing our fellowship to the maturity of Christ. How do we accomplish Ephesians 4:12-21.
MINISTERS MINISTRY TO US OUTSIDE OUR LOCAL CHURCH
WINSTON AND KATHY HALL
We had Evangelist Winston Hall come for a revival, and he came and gave us five great biblical messages that were designed to get us out of our comfort zone and get us to move out and serve the Lord. And I will say his messages were well targeted to all of us. Winston has been in ministry and has pastored several churches, so he knows ministry, he knows the work of the ministry, he loves the church, and he loves people. He worked in partnership with us to help us accomplish our desire to see the members grow in grace, and have a desire to be a part of the work here at Rivers of Joy Baptist Church. Winston and Kathy spent valuable time with Pastor Charles and Charity in their home.
BOB AND SAUNDRA TEMPLE
Then Pastor Bob Temple, Sr., who is also an Elder and on our staff, ministers to us in a number of ways. He has the heart of a pastor. He has a heart for people. This year he came and presented eight lessons on Spiritual Gifts. I will say that it was one of the best presentations on the spiritual gifts. We had the notes from the lessons, and took a test to see what our gifts were. I might add that his wife Saundra has been a foreign missionary for over 30 years, and has a heart for missions. She has given her testimony to us and challenged our members for missions. Bob Temple is Charity’s father and has been a spiritual father to Pastor Charles. Bob and his first wife Lenora kept Charles and Charity encouraged in many, many ways. Without them we would not have survived.
ALAN AND ANGIE HARRIS
Then Evangelist and Gospel singer Alan Harris was only here for one service. Usually he comes for a week, but what a powerful service we had with Alan. One service really only gave us a small picture into the heart of Alan and his family. They have a love for the Lord and the church and the pastor. Their desire is to see God glorified. They desire to see the lost come to Christ. Alan and Angie have been Pastor Charles and Charity close friends for their entire married life of 28 years. Their friendship is more valuable to us than anyone can imagine.
JUST HOW DOES CHRIST WORK IN HIS CHURCH TO PRODUCE HIS KIND OF CHURCH? HOW DO WE DO GOD’S WORK IN GOD’S WAY SO AS TO DEVELOP THE KIND OF CHURCH WHERE CHRIST WOULD BE GLORIFIED?
CURRENT LOCAL MINISTERS
Presently Rivers of Joy Baptist has four elders or associate pastors (Charles e Whisnant, Teaching pastor, Bill Bower, assoc, ministry of music, and Johnny Edwards, assistant in music, and Bob Temple who is our missionary pastor. We have Jimmy and Lois Grant as our deacon, and
Bill and Janet Ramey. And the cool blessing ROJBC has is a great support group of members who faithfully attend each service, and give financially to the ministry of the church. It’s the desire that each Elder is involved in the lives of the members and involved in the ministry. Of course each member is also a minister. Each one has been given a spiritual gift of service to help do the work of the ministry. And when all of us are working, we see God’s church come to life.
PASTOR-TEACHER CHARLES e WHISNANT
Ephesians 4:11-32 has been the biblical plan for ministry of the church. Teaching the Word of God in an expositional way is the specific design of the teaching of the Bible. Our desire is to give a clear teaching of the Bible, in the manner of book by book and chapter by chapter format. The idea is to allow the Word of God to teach each individual. The preaching is in the moment. Preaching is designed for the people who are there in the services. It’s the experience of the moment in hearing the Word being presented that the Holy Spirit can use it to challenge and change lives for the glory of the Lord. Each lesson and sermon is designed to speak to each person present, to encourage, challenge, give knowledge, and wisdom to do the work which Christ has called the church to accomplish.
Are you getting it? Have you been challenged? Have you grown in the knowledge and grace of Christ in our life and ministry of the church?
